Parents and Guidance CounsellorsOne of the toughest jobs we have is to help guide students towards selecting a career that is appropriate, challenging, and satisfying. The options can be overwhelming, but here is some information that will help determine if a career as an operator is the right choice. To become an operator, Grade 12 (or equivalent) is a must, with a focus on mathematics, especially Apprenticeship Math where offered. Science and English are considered assets. If he/she doesn’t mind hard work or getting their hands dirty, is mechanically inclined, and would prefer not to attend years of College or University, they should explore the trades.
