OETIO Mobile Crane Simulator
Debuts in California

April 2007 — OETIO staff has created a new concept cab and hardware for the Mobile Crane Simulation. The new design makes the simulator more mobile. It can be assembled or disassembled in 30 minutes, and is easily rolled through standard doors — it folds down to 35 inches wide and 65 inches high. CMLabs has also upgraded their software to enhance the realism and graphics.

The new design will be introduced at the International Union of Operating Engineers Training Conference in Newport Beach in California April 22-25, 2007.

OETIO has been using simulators for mobile and tower crane training for a number of years. The first prototype design in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada, 3D Virtual Reality Cave Type Mobile Crane Simulator, turned out to be a very successful training aid. Subsequently, OETIO, in collaboration with the high tech company CMLabs out of Montreal, designed an end user model using their VORTEX software for the simulation.

The new simulators are so successful in the OETIO Crane Training Programs that we are now using these simulators as standard cost-effective training aids.
