A Day in the Life
of a Tower Crane Operator

Tower cranes are most commonly used on high-rise or skyscraper construction sites to set forms, pour concrete, and place structural steel. These cranes are often erected until the project is complete, so operators may stay at the same jobsite for months at a time.

Tower cranes must be ready to make their first lift when the others arrive, so you should be one of the first to arrive on-site, and one of the last to leave. Ten-hour workdays are common, but operators can be required to work longer.
