Excavator Operator

The construction industry demands high productivity. By digging, excavating and loading impressive volumes of material, the track excavator often sets the pace of the jobsite.

At the end of the practical training, you’ll be able to maneuver your machine using the back attachment, dig excavations and trenches to depths of 2.5 meters below ground surface and will have developed trenching and sloping techniques in accordance with Ontario regulations.  The deeper the excavation the more sloping and trenching techniques are required. You will also be able to use attached GPS and laser equipment.

Excavator OperatorOntario Government guidelines state that becoming a competent excavator operator requires 240 hours in-school training (78 hours of theory and 162 hours per machine) and 2,000-2,500 hours on-the-job experience. In-school training standards were decided by employers, experienced operators and government, and considered the entry-level (bare minimum) requirement.
