Tractor-Loader-Backhoe Operator

The tractor-loader-backhoe is a powerful and versatile machine.

At the end of the practical training, you should be able to excavate, level, and load materials with the front loader to within industry tolerances. With the back bucket, you will be able to maneuver with the back attachment, dig excavations and trenches to depths of 1.8 meters, and will have developed trenching and sloping techniques in accordance with Ontario regulations. You will also be able to use attached GPS and laser equipment.

Tractor-Loader-Backhoe OperatorOntario Government guidelines require 240 hours in-school training (78 hours of theory and 162 hours per machine) and 2,000-2,500 hours on-the-job experience. In-school training standards were decided by employers, experienced operators, and government and are considered the entry-level (bare minimum) requirement.
