mobile crane apprenticeship- 339A and 339C

This course provides the fundamentals of safety, equipment characteristics, and operational practices that apply to mobile cranes. There is ample hands-on practice to develop the basic skills of mobile crane operation and maintenance.

The Branch 1 (339A; 8 ton - up to unlimited tonnage) apprenticeship requires common core and an additional 3 levels in-school advanced training.

The Branch 2 (339C; 8 ton - up to and including 15 ton) apprenticeship requires only common core.

Note: Hoisting engineer apprentices start their in-school training with the Level 1.

Hoisting Engineer Apprentice - Common Core - Level 1
Duration: 240 hours over 30 days
Prerequisite: Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent, valid drivers license
Format: 6 weeks of classroom, laboratory, simulation and practical exercises 
Evaluation: Theory examinations and practical evaluations
Accreditation: OETIO certificate

Mobile Crane Apprentice - Level 2
Duration: 80 hours over 10 days
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 and approximately 2,000 hours of on-the-job experience.
Format: 2 days (16 hours) of classroom, laboratory, simulation activities followed by 8 days (64 hours) of practical exercises.
Evaluation: Practical evaluations.
Accreditation: OETIO certificate

Mobile Crane Apprentice - Level 3 
Duration: 80 hours over 10 days
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 and Level 2 and approximately 4,000 hours on-the-job experience.
Format:  2 days (16 hours) of classroom, laboratory, simulation activities followed by 8 days (64 hours) of practical exercises.
Evaluation: Practical evaluations.
Accreditation: OETIO certificate

 

Mobile Crane Apprentice - Level 4  
Duration: 80 hours over 10 days
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1,  Level 2 and Level 3 and approximately 5,500 hours on-the-job experience.
Format: 1 week (40 hours) of classroom, laboratory, simulation activities followed by one week (40 hours) of practical exercises.
Evaluation: Theory examinations and practical evaluations.
Accreditation: OETIO certificate
